Updates from Skippers Meeting
- Monitor VHF-68 for morning announcements
- Harbor Start: 1000; Cruise Chairman, John Geissinger aboard Artemis, will lead the parade out of the harbor. Follow the Great Flag.
- There will be a race starting at the mark designated in the Cruise Book. Bill Burnham will be on station at the start line in Panda [aka Whoosh]
- Skippers must take their finish time (from gps) as they cross the finish line and report to Rick Nietsch [Racing Instructions]
- The Master's Cocktail Hour for first-time Cruise participants has been opened to all — to help raise the waterline of Whoosh. At 1700.
- Two vessels had to drop out of the Cruise. The Rotating Dinner assignments will be modified. The new rafting orders will be published on this website as soon as available.
- Alice and Andy Much would like any Cruise participants who have special needs at Boothbay Harbor (transportation, groceries, etc.) to alert them as soon as possible so they can make the necessary arrangements.
- Remember to be on the lookout for the infamous toggles & floats. They stream with the current and wind. It is often difficult to discern which two floats are connected. Vigilance at all times is necessary especially when traveling E-W routes in the Penobscot. Floats can be pulled underwater by swift currents.
- The Maine Cruisers Net can be heard on SSB at 0700: 4006 USB. Good information on navigation issues in the region is provided.

Rockland YC Registration
All, I look forward to seeing everyone at Rockland Yacht Club for registration, cocktails and skippers meeting. I need to communicate an important item regarding cocktails: Rockland Yacht Club does not have a liquor license, so cocktails will be BYOB. The club will provide ice, cups, etc. Spoiler alert, there will be glasses included in everyone's swag bag, so there is no excuse not to fill up a glass and cheer the start of our cruise!
Fair winds,
John Geissinger

Rockland Harbor Intel
Cruise Skippers,
Here is a report from Dick and Tina Marsh who are in Rockland for a few days.
"We are very pleased with Safe Harbor mooring. Their moorings are the furthest outside, but little different from a Block Island scenario. They have two very nice loaner cars reserved for dock guests (which are few), but otherwise available to mooring guests without charge.
"As in Cruise Guide, there are both a Shaw's and a Hannaford's grocery stores a short drive away, also a Home Depot, and pretty much anything else a short drive away. The $50 mooring fee is same as Harbor Master / Rockland Yacht Club (RYC) moorings which are strictly first come first served.
"Safe Harbor has a small and little used dinghy dock area that is no additional charge. Safe Harbor does not have a launch service. RYC website says RYC launch is "free" to those on RYC/town moorings, but on the radio they said there is no free launch service. RYC launch is $10 per person, $30 minimum, each way. Or you can pay $5 for the very crowded dinghy dock in front of RYC. Climb over three dinghies.
"It is a short and pleasant walk from Safe Harbor to RYC. There is also a very good restaurant on the Safe Harbor dock, hard to resist after a day's sail. The brand new shower and laundry facilities are luxurious and located in a separate building on the grounds.
"Safe Harbor only very recently took over what was Yachting Solutions Boat Basin. Check Dockwa.
"There is a very nice farmer's market in Harbor Park (by RYC) on Thursday morning."
Fair winds,
John Geissinger
